Artist's Statement

When the tide goes out in coastal south Florida, the dropping waterline exposes all the mudflats.  If you could see these expanses from above, it would not be hard to imagine them as drawings, each interruption in the surface hinting at its own making.  You would, without noticing begin to think about how all those traces came to be.  You would wonder, interpret and invent.  Above all, you would sink into the murk of your own thoughts.  And really…it is those thoughts that I like the most.
