our constellations: astral embraces and tactual consciousness

our constellations: astral embraces and tactual consciousness” is a group exhibition curated by Terri C Smith featuring selected alumni from Miami’s Fountainhead Residency. This is the first in a biennial series of curated exhibitions at Emerson Dorsch Gallery that includes selected Fountainhead alumni. The exhibition will be on view from August 7 to September 11, 2021.

The artists in “our constellations” conjure a sense of connection through materials, symbols, and narratives that are in tune with touch, natural environments, and the liminal, sometimes spiritual, energies that operate between our interior emotional lives and external states. Their strategies around touch include: enticing us to touch objects through sensuous materiality; presenting magical, yet untouchable, subjects like the moon and stars; and creating narrative works that ask us to contemplate the role of touch and gestures in our intimate connections with people and places.

Artists: Beverly Acha, Stephen Arboite, Melissa Brown, Andy Coolquitt, Katrina Coombs, TJ Dedeaux-Norris, GeoVanna Gonzalez, Karsten Krejcarek, Eleen Lin, Adia Millett, Cheryl Pope, Liz Rodda, Sheena Rose, Kristen Schiele, Meredyth Sparks, Chiffon Thomas, and Michelle Weinberg. Curated by Terri C Smith.

Artists Open

Fountainhead is thrilled to announce the second in-person edition of Artists Open, its Miami-Dade County-wide open studios event offering the public access to over 300 artists studios across the county. Held on May 8, 2021 from 11:00am to 6:00pm. To protect artists and attendees, social distance protocols and a mask requirement will be in place. Fountainhead’s mission is to elevate the voices, visibility, and value of artists in our society. Artists Open is the only event of its kind offering locals an opportunity to engage with artists in their studios.

Most of Miami’s major studio complexes and many individual artist studios located throughout Miami- Dade county are participating. Local complexes include: 8365 Studios, Fountainhead Studios, Visual Art Group, the Milk District, The Collective 62, Laundromat Art Space, ArtHood 56, Doral Art Studios, Hialeah Arts District, Bakehouse Art Complex, 27/20 Studios, Oolite Arts (Miami Beach), Void Projects, Calle Ocho Arts District, 4700 @ Bird Road Arts District and Dimensions Variable.

Fountainhead wants to be thorough in connecting as many artists and art studio complexes as possible for the big event. Please share this widely so we don’t miss anyone.

Because many of the studios are not generally open to the public, information regarding ADA accessibility, parking and nearby public transportation is being provided for each location. To make each location easy to find, studios will be clearly marked with an Artists Open pink banner. As a green initiative we will not be distributing printed information or flyers. Artwork will be available for sale at many of the artists’ studios.

Documenting the process of setting up the wallet, singing up for every platform + sharing the process of minting an NFT on every platform.  It's a little long but it's the most helpful thing I've found for getting started.
