Antoine Lefebrvre
Brooklyn, NY

Artist’s Statement

Lefebvre lives and works in New York City where he developed a playful and humorous approach to art. He makes use of different media,  taking digital and virtual elements that he transforms into tangible sculptural objects. From there, he re-shuffles them into the digital process using video or still photography. While some projects only exist as digital files on a hard drive, others are long-planned and crafted objects that were shipped from New York to Bielefeld. A large aluminum tube mounted on a palanquin seems disconnected from the laws of gravity, it moves effortlessly while being carried through a rugged landscape by a group of people. Lastly, Lefebvre physically recreated tools and icons of a 3D computer program and then photographed them into a series of large prints.

Antoine Lefebvre was born in France in 1979. He studied city planing and cinema before moving to New York in 2007. There he studied at Parsons the New School for Design where he received a Master in Fine Art in 2009. His wok has been shown in different NY Galleries including, Eye Level, Envoy Gallery, The Kitchen and the Pulse Art Fair. He attended several artist residencies including, The Sculpture Space, The Vermont Studio Center and Artists Unlimited in Germany.

His first solo show was held at the NrzP Gallery in Bielefeld, Germany in 2012.
