Artist’s Statement

Gamaliel R. Herrera (San Juan, Puerto Rico; 1970) is a self-taught artist, freelance curator, and contemporary art collector. He received an education in the humanities, natural sciences and medicine between San Juan and Madrid (B.S. 1992, M.D. 1996), and completed his training as a diagnostic radiologist between New York and Boston (1997-2001). From 2004 to 2008 he founded and directed Space Other, an independent contemporary art project space in Boston. Since 2011 he relocated to Miami Beach and pursues the development of his own artistic production. During 2012, he was a juried resident artist at the Art Center South Florida. He currently shares a studio at The Fountainhead Studios in Miami, FL.
