Artists's Statement

I am a visual artist based in Medellin, Colombia. Within my artistic practice I’m interested in questioning and subverting cultural phenomena related to specific local contexts, territories or communities. Specifically, I have worked with the notions of body, gender, colonialism and identity among others. I’ve been awarded with the “Microgrant photographer” grant from the American photography website Fototazo (2011), selected artist for the residency “Vivarte” in Sao Paulo, Brazil (2012); awarded artist of the UDEA researchers funds for the publication of the magazine “Cosmopolitican” Colombia (2014), selected artist and grant winner of the “Alps Art Academy” Switzerland (2016), selected artist and award winner of the Colombian Ministry of culture, scholarships for the artist residency “missed connections” at “The fountainhead residency, Miami” (2016). Selected photographer for the book “Colombian women photographers” that will be released in spring 2017.
