Artist’s Statement

I grew up in Rome, which is a very special city because it is layered: every age has been built on the ruins of earlier times. This idea of layering comes up a lot in my practice.

Through paper my work deals with social and moral concerns, as well as my stance on specific ethical issues.

Projects that I am focusing on now, revolve around the concept of freedom. My new works use paper and cartographic maps which I cut, paint, assemble, and configure into complex images that refer directly to the political ideals expressed by the protesters during the recent uprisings in North Africa and the Middle East.
