Artist’s Statement

Justin Rancourt and Chuck Yatsuk orchestrate events and exhibitions centered on American leisure pastimes: mixing drinks, motivational speaking, real estate speculation, multi-level marketing, boating, and vacation planning. Their work addresses American cultural phenomena, often taking the form of seminars or organized events.

Born and raised in Daytona Beach, Florida, Rancourt/Yatsuk currently live and work in New York City. They had their first extended solo exhibition, a series of performances titled The Switch, at Kate Werble Gallery in October 2010. In January, 2011, they held a performance titled Rancourt/Yatsuk: The Switch and Omega Club: 2011 Annual Gathering, at Honor Fraser Gallery, in Los Angeles, CA. The duo also recently performed The Switch at the NADA Art Fair Miami Beach 2010 in the ballroom of the Deauville Beach Resort and in Vienna, Austria as a part of Vienna Arts Week in November, 2010.

Their work has been shown at Art In General, The Austrian Cultural Forum, and Kate Werble Gallery in New York, Nikolaj Contemporary Art Center in Copenhagen, Center For Contemporary Art (CCA) in Kitakyushu, Japan, and Kunst Projects in Berlin. Rancourt/Yatsuk were awarded residencies at Seok-su Art Project in Anyang, Korea and with In You We Trust, in Cushendall, Northern Ireland.
