Artist’s Statement

The tradition out of which I draw my inspiration is the twilight zone between avant-garde and underground. I first became interested in music and only later discovered the visual arts. In a sense, pop music formed the basis of my aesthetic. Through the music I discovered William Burroughs, began reading more, became involved with fanzines and underground comics, and it was in these circles that I got to know various graphic artists. The influence of the media promoted by the international pop culture of sound and image (collage, comics, cartoons, fanzines, graffiti, street poetry, performances, installations, noise and psychedelica) has always been detectable in both my drawings and my installations.
