Artist's Statement

My photography and video work operate in the conventions of the self-portrait. Sometimes navigating through a performed self, I employ different strategies of theatricality, the body, performance, cutouts, stock image, and comedy as a framework to reveal a disruption, a divide. Between self and other. Self and the self’s image. Depiction and representation. Performance and the camera.

In short, my work is about the self in self-portrait, the portrait in self-portrait, and the hyphen in self-portrait.
