Join us to meet the artists currently engaged in The Fountainhead’s residency program, Justin Favela and Yvette Mayorga. Chief curator of the Warhol Museum in Pittsburg, Jose Diaz, will lead the discussion, focusing on how these contemporary Latin artists are sparking up dialogue about race, gender, identity in America today.
Justin Favela is a Mexican and Guatemalan-American who has frequently used his work to examine his identity, investigate stereotypes and reclaim cultural traditions that have long been appropriated and parodied.
Yvette Mayorga’s work is informed by the politics of the border, the events that happen on it and the transnational narratives that arise after crossing it.
