Artist’s Statement
Perhaps the erotic rests not in the depiction of bodies but in the depiction of space. Imagine an orphaned pillar standing alone, a remnant of something vaguely remembered –
an abbey
a mosque
a 1920’s train station
a factory
a military fort
a hidden vault beneath an altar
It being the focal point at which four arches intersect to support the weight of an entire building, reminds me of the point at which an arm connects to a torso, a leg to a pelvis, or the bent back of someone pressed against the ceiling…
