BIO
Siri Borge (1985) graduated from the Academy of Fine Arts in Bergen, Norway in 2014. She's is is a contemporary artist based in Stavanger, a city on the west coast of Norway, and is currently preparing for a residency at The Fountainhead in Miami.
Future projects include a solo show at Bryne Kunstforening, followed by a residency and exhibition at Fjarðabyggð, Iceland, and a performance in New Orleans curated by Deltaworkers and Parse Nola, that all will take place in 2022.
Borge is a multimedia artist, using sculpture, installations, performance, photo and film. As a maximalist she prefers to use all at once. Her art can be identified by her strong feminist and socio-political concepts that guide her artistic practice, as well as her approach to dealing with these matters.
She’s had several exhibitions both nationally and internationally, in institutions such as Stavanger Kunstmuseum, Malmø Konsthall, V2 in Rotterdam and Side Quest Gallery, New York. Her latest solo exhibitions took place at Galleri Hi10 in Skien the spring of 2020.
In addition to being an artist she is also a writer, gallerist, curator and art critic for the art magazine «Billedkunst».
Borge wrote an essay on feminism in the arts that was published in the book “Ulyd, en feministisk antologi'' fall of 2018, by Cappelen Damm.
In addition to her artistic practice she has also entered the political scene in Stavanger, as a member of the party Rødt. She has been elected as member of the board of both the local party, and as second leader of the Department for Social Housing in Stavanger, and are now a candidate in the upcoming election at Stortinget. She also represents the city of Stavangers interest at Kunsthall Stavanger.
She sees her political engagement as an extension of her artistic practice, where she can dive deeper into the political issues she deals with as an artist. Borge’s artistic practice is research based, and she is currently studying Political Philosophy at the University of Stavanger to better understand the political structure we build our society on.
