Rodrigue Mouchez is a french-mexican artist and curator. Graduating with a MFA and a BFA from L’École Nationale Supérieure des Beaux-Arts de Lyon in 2012 Rodrigue Mouchez participated in the same year at the research Masters program in choreography ‘Ex.e.r.ce’ in the Centre Chorégraphique National of Montpellier. Rodrigue Mouchez’s practice is diverse, working in both curation and in arts practice – his artwork takes roots in various mediums ranging from sculpture and drawing to performance, video and installation. Rodrigue Mouchez's works closely study cyclical patterns of nature and incorporate ephemeral materials to address environmental issues and think about how to unlearn and undo our deeply rooted anthropocentrism. In his recent installations, Rodrigue Mouchez works from the narrative potential of ordinary materials by reconfiguring them into historically and symbolically disturbing sculptural assemblages. His research led him to focus on the notions of fluidity and porosity, particularly through the production of sculptures whose state of the materials used evolve throughout their presentation. In June 2017, he founded the curatorial platform AGUAS, a non-profit organization that promotes artists from the Americas and Europe through exhibitions, talks and publication. Curator of 'Agua del dia', AGUAS's inaugural exhibition that was presented in Mexico City in February 2018 and in Brussels in June 2018, Rodrigue Mouchez aims to facilitate collaboration and interdisciplinarity through AGUAS's projects between international artists and curators, designers and writers.
